Today, it’s 44°F, raining, and the winds are gusting up to 30 MPH, dropping the wind chill to 35°F. On this special holiday, our most vulnerable neighbors are left out in the cold with nowhere to go.
This is a stark reminder of why we’re fighting so hard to raise the winter weather shelter threshold to 40°F, including wind chill. No one should have to endure these dangerous conditions, especially during the holidays when so many of us are surrounded by warmth, love, and security.

A Holiday Call to Action
Let’s remember the true spirit of this season: compassion, kindness, and community. We must act now to ensure that no one is left to suffer in the cold. Together, we can create a more humane and caring Whatcom County.
Thank you for your support, and wishing you and your loved ones warmth and safety this holiday season.
With Gratitude,
